New York City 2024

IAPM Annual Meeting

New York City, USA

26-30 June, 2024

Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for attending our New York IAPM meeting, which celebrated our international brotherhood and sisterhood in a city that reflects our transcultural and transnational essence. We enjoyed reconnecting in person at the cocktail reception after months of Zoom meetings.

The following day featured a Scientific Program showcasing the breadth and depth of our membership, followed by a memorable dinner at the Palm Restaurant with special Canadian lobsters.

During the administrative session, President Asim Kurjak received our love and prayers for his recovery. I announced going forward our three affiliated societies, The International Academy of Perinatal Medicine, The Ian Donald School, and The International Society of Fetus as a Patient. Leadership will be coordinated from the New York/Zagreb axis, involving Asim Kurjak, Milan Stanojevic, Jadranka Cerovec, Lissette Andrews, and myself.

Future meetings are planned with Gianni Monni in Sardinia (2025), Azen Salim, Noroyono Wibowo, and Hung Winn in Bali/Indonesia (2026), Chiara Benedetto in Turin/Italy (2027), and Narendra and Jaideep Malhotra in India (2028). Tanja Premru and Lilijana Kornhauser announced the next Fetus as a Patient Society meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on May 15-16, 2025.

Ivica Zalud and Heike Jahnke held the editorial board meeting for our Journal of Perinatal Medicine, where we prayed for Joachim Dudenhausen’s health.

Our ceremonial meeting at the Metropolitan Club saw the induction of new members, including Elsa Viora, Narendra Malhotra, Abdallah Adra, Hisham Arab, Javier Mancilla. We mourned the loss of Roberto Cassis Martinez and he was awarded membership posthumously which was received by his son. New associate members included Renee McLeod-Sordjan, Huda Al-Kouatly, Jaideep Malhotra, Delayehu Bekele, Azen Salim, Ulrich Honemeyer, Marija Hadji Lega, Ana Daneva Markova, Noroyono Wibowo.

The ceremony concluded with the Harlem Gospel Choir singing the traditional “Gaudeamus igitur”. A cocktail reception followed where the choir sang spirituals which concluded with spirituals and ending with Frank joining all in singing a timely hymn “Let there be peace on earth.”

The final day included lunch at Katz Delicatessen, a quintessential New York City restaurant which was followed by a tour of the famous downtown New York’s Wall Street area, seeing the depths of the 9/11 Memorial, and concluded with the sublime heights of the One World Observatory.

All who participated left with the spirit of our international brotherhood and sisterhood renewed. Those who could not be with us were present in spirit. We pray for the health of Asim and Joachim.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.

With best wishes always!

Frank
